Terms of Service
Last updated October 22, 2026. These terms govern use of CW Watchlist Screening, operated by Controlwright ("we", "us"), by an investment advisory firm and its users ("you").
1. The service
The service compares names you submit against public government sanctions and restricted party lists and shows possible matches with a confidence rating. It can also monitor names you choose and alert you when the lists change.
2. A screening aid, not a legal determination
Results are an aid to your compliance program. They are not legal advice, and they are not a determination that a person is or is not on a list. A possible match must be reviewed by a qualified person at your firm. A result showing no match does not guarantee a person is not sanctioned. You are responsible for your own compliance decisions, including anti money laundering and sanctions obligations.
3. List data
We load government lists on a regular schedule, currently twice a day. Governments can publish or change entries at any time, so there can be a delay between a government action and its appearance in the service. Each report shows when the lists were last updated. Official government sources control if there is any difference.
4. Accounts
Accounts are created by us for your firm. You are responsible for your users, for keeping credentials confidential, and for activity under your accounts. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.
5. Your data
You keep ownership of the information you submit. You give us permission to process it to provide the service. You confirm you have the right to submit it and that your use complies with applicable law. See the Privacy Policy.
6. Acceptable use
Do not misuse the service, attempt to access other firms' data, overload or probe the service, resell it without our written agreement, or use it for any purpose that is unlawful.
7. Fees
Fees, plan limits and overage charges are shown on the pricing and billing pages. Subscriptions renew until cancelled. Payments are processed by Stripe.
8. Availability
We work to keep the service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. Planned maintenance and events outside our control may cause interruptions.
9. Disclaimer
The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.
10. Limit of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits or regulatory penalties. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
11. Ending the service
You may cancel at any time. We may suspend or end access for a breach of these terms or for non payment. After ending, you may request an export of your data.
12. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms and will notify firms of material changes. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to conflict of law rules.
